Stranger in my outline

first single · september 2026

A song about being misread. Not rejected. Misread.

Someone draws a stranger inside the shape of you, in colours that were never yours, and calls it the truth. The outline is right. It’s the filling in that’s wrong.

It lives in the gap between what you meant and how it was taken, and it refuses the easy exit of going cold to prove you were warm. It ends on freedom, not innocence. Not “I was only being kind,” but “I can be misunderstood and still stay myself.”

How it was made

The words came first, written as a feeling before they were a song. When the lyric is about a self repainted by someone else, the sound answers in kind: a quiet nu-jazz ballad, more hush than swell. Rhodes and upright bass, brushed drums kept low, a single clarinet for the ache, and silence left between the phrases on purpose. It holds back where a pop song would belt, and settles into warmth instead of a big finish.

Then the cover art answers the sound. One intention, carried the whole way through.
